What does MJUMITA offer to her members
MJUMITA offers the following to its members:
Provides information relevant to forest policies to communities through Komba Newsletter, leaflets, posters etc.
Engages communities in an active exchange of information between networks through exchange visits between networks within the country and within East Africa.
Improves communities understanding of the Land Policy, Forest Policy, Wildlife Policy and Poverty Reduction Strategy process and other forest related policies through trainings by MJUMITA officers to the needy networks.
Empowers communities by strengthening their governance, management, negotiation, fundraising and networking skills through trainings by MJUMITA officers to the needy networks.
Documents and shares with the wider public the lessons learnt from MJUMITA's local networks experiences through public newspapers, Radio and Television programmes.
How can one be a member
MJUMITA is open to any non-profit organisation, institution, environmental groups, institutions whose main focus is promoting conservation and awareness raising, which will strengthen participation of Tanzanian's in forestry resources conservation.
The member shall submit the application for joining the MJUMITA with minutes of the General Meeting of the organisation, signed by the Chairperson and Secretary of the organisation showing willingness of joining MJUMITA.
Types of Membership
There are three types of membership under MJUMITA
Ordinary membership
Ordinary members are all members living adjacent to forests and who have followed the procedures of registration as shown in MJUMITA Constitution. The membership shall include any person who has interest, ready to volunteer and has filled membership application form and paid annual membership and other subscription fees. This membership is specifically for communities living adjacent to forests and have organised themselves in groups (CBOs).
Corporate membership
Corporate members shall include any person other than ordinary and honorarium members. This kind of membership shall be acquired upon being recommended by the Board and approved by the General Assembly.
Honorarium membership
Honorary members shall include reputable person as approved by the General Assembly after having been propesed by the Commitee.
Entry and registration fees
There will be an entry/registration fee for members (ordinary and corporate). The networks member will have to pay an annual fee at least 30 days before the annual general meeting.
